A.K.A. Heinz Klinger
A.K.A. Rolf Kempinski
IFA Wartburg was a Swedish band presumably active from 1984 to 1999 playing live concerts and with limited releases on the now-defunct Plattenmeister label. The band is loosely aesthetically themed around the German Democratic Republic (East Germany), with frontmen Nils Lundwall and Magnus Michaeli taking on the stage names Heinz Klinger and Rolf Kempinski respectively. Their songs are typically playful or satire in nature.
Under the Plattenmeister label, they released the album Im Dienste des Sozialismus and a single based on it, Der Berliner. Two compilations from the label contained the track Frau Gorbatschowa tanzt Bossanova, while another contained the previously-unreleased track Sorbisches Fischerlied. Another song, Der Sessel-Song (also known as Sessel aus Kassel) was available as a digital download from the IFA Wartburg blog on the Plattenmeister website.
There are songs, a YouTube channel, and a new website which have come about post-2000 which seem to be promisingly authentic, though explicit confirmation that the person operating these is officially associated with the band has never been provided; the pretend world of IFA Wartburg obfuscates reality just enough to make judging authenticity a painful task; I've opted to regard all YouTube-exclusive songs as "uncertain" for the time-being.
